Information on the village of Bowden in Scotland.
William Dick (d 1925) Educated in the village, he left to work on the railways, but returned in his retirement to live in Hawthorn Cottage. On his death, he left the residue of his estate ' for the light and improvement of the village'. Electric street lights were installed in 1930 and a new cloakroom and a domestic hot water system installed in the Village Hall. The remainder of the legacy was used to set up a Trust Fund, the income of which continues to be spent on the improvement of the village.
