Name - Possibly from Old English 'the valley with a building' - 'bothl, denu'
Graveyard Record - Not yet recorded. An excellent history of the church 'Bowden Kirk 1128 - 1978' by Mrs JSM MacDonald is available from the Post Office in the village.
Places of interest
St Cuthbert's Way also passes through Bowden, on its way from Melrose to Lindisfarne.
